Life is what you make it.

life experiencesPosted by kate Fri, September 04, 2009 12:31:37

I found out quite early in life that if you sit around waiting for good things to happen or, if you expect others to provide you with happiness, wealth, inspiration..often you become really unhappy and disappointed with everything.

However, if you go out there and try something new, take a chance, stick your neck out!..more often than not you will find what your looking for...sometimes not in the way you hoped..but ultimately you will be glad you took a chance on life.

Change can happen to everyone when you believe you can..then you can!

I recently found this little story below. It did confirm to me what I already knew but I still found it inspiring and it helped re-remember...if you really want change and you believe you can do it..the universe will help you with your journey. Take one day at a time and take one moment as it happens but always reach for your goals no matter what.

Once upon a time in a land not too far away, in a time only recently, there were identical twin boys born. They lived a charmed life with parents who loved them equally. They spent each and every day together and both were blessed exactly the same. They wanted for nothing and had every opportunity available to them. One could say that their lives were charmed.

One day, when they were old enough to understand and young enough to have their entire lives ahead of them, their father took them each aside separately. He gave each boy the exact same treasure chest and gave them both the exact same message. He said to each son, "Because of my great love for you I have given you this treasure chest. You must never speak to your brother about it and you may not ever ask me a single question regarding it." With that the subject was closed and each boy sent out into the world.

Each boy had enough money that they could live comfortably for their entire lives. They never needed to work a day of their lives. One brother spent all of his days napping in the sun while he waited for the treasure chest to be someday filled with his inheritance from his father. The other brother having found his treasure chest empty spent all of his days searching for treasures to fill his chest with. He set out into the world on a grand adventure in search of hidden treasures. He found the world full of potential and saw treasures in even the little pleasures in life.

He created friendships and found his treasure chest overflowing with happiness. He shared his abundance and found love. He discovered that with love he found even more treasures and created a family to help share in his abundance. In family he a found community and in community he found acceptance. In acceptance he found joy. And in joy he found peace. And that is how it went all the days of his life. When he found one good thing he found even more blessings hidden inside it.

The other boy simply waited. He waited for his treasure chest to be filled with his inheritance. He lived his life as if he was sleeping through it. He was waiting for when things would be even easier when he was given more. He waited and waited and waited while he watched his brother always on the go and never resting. He thought that his brother was wasting his life with all the toil and labor that having a family, community and responsibility created.

The day came in which each brother was called home to say farewell to their father. One brother brought his family and wept in their arms as he leaned on them for strength. The other brother brought his empty treasure chest prepared to have it filled with his inheritance. When their father passed and grief overtook them both, one brother fell into the arms of his family and the other stumbled onto the cold surface of his treasure chest.

Their inheritance came as promised. It was both more and less than expected. You see they had already lived a life of luxury with all the riches of the world. The riches that came from their inheritance only stacked riches onto financial riches. But for one brother who had seen the potential of the treasure chest as a vessel to carry the riches he discovered along the way the inheritance was great. His life had been fruitful, exciting, and fulfilling all because he sought to fill the vessel his father gave him. For the other brother his life was lonely, boring and unfulfilling because he simply waited for life to give him more. His treasure box was empty because he expected to be handed the world and wasted his life waiting for more.

Is there anyone there?

life experiencesPosted by kate Tue, June 23, 2009 11:22:06

Is there anyone there?: I had a thought the other day..and wondered..

If you have never seen it, touched it, smelled it can you explain, experience, sense it?

I feel you can only imagine what you know. Therefore, you cannot consider what it all means from a conscious perspective.

It is only when you do feel, experience something you can discuss, reason your findings. Are we all limited by what we see around us and by our own perspectives?

We all live in our own worlds. We choose to see what we want to see, feel and hear, what we want to hear.

Our perspectives can be widened with learning, by opening our minds to others thoughts, experiences and from wiser people. Only if we listen, learn and allow new experiences to create a new platform for us to explore can we learn and evolve.

If we choose to not learn, for personal or other reasons, we cannot move forward in our lives. We will always remain within our own limiting world.

Does this mean the same in a spiritual context? If we cannot, have not, refused to see another dimension, can we truly say.. there is no one there....?

I believe there is someone or something there..I am striving to learn how to see but I am hampered by my own limiting perspectives. I will however, continue to break down the barriers and hopefullly, one day, find a new horizon.

more about me

more about mePosted by kate Mon, May 25, 2009 12:46:27

smiley Photography: I really enjoy being outdoors with nature. When I am there I usually have my digital camera taking photos of the sunset, wild birds/flowers, rolling scottish hills and almost anything that takes my fancy really. Some of the pictures on my web were taken by me. Check out my new photography web site. I made this one to allow myself and other budding photographers an online site to display their pics. Check out Jim and Cathys pics..they are fab!!

Web Design: I am also a (trainee) web designer. I made this one! I hope you like it? My interest in web design started fairly recently..it has opened up a whole new dimension in my life! I really enjoy creating lots of things but with web design I feel I am transported to a totally different dimension. It's so different to my chosen career but it will always be something I can escape to when the weather becomes too wild for walking. I plan to plublish some of my other web design sites on a future blog. It will allow you to have a look at my other web design work.

Organic skin and body care: I will be introducing you to a whole new range organic/vegan skin and body care products very soon! Check out my natural products page for details.

I bought a bike!: Yes, I really did! I bought a bike and have been out and about riding my bike on our canals. It's been really good fun but...a bit exhausting cos' I'm not getting any younger ;0). I hope to get better and faster at riding it so I can venture further into different parts of our beautiful country side. Whilst on my bike I discovered some beautiful wild flowers I have taken pictures of. I will post them on my blog soon. Since writing this part of my blog..I have to say..I have been happily cycling the beautiful canals of East Dunbartonshire. Not only has it been a great way to get rid of the days/weeks trials and tribulations, it has be great to get rid of the adipose tissue that was collecting around my growing backside!!

What I'm good at : (in my opinion only)

I'm good at keeping secrets : sshh dont tell anyone.

I'm a good friend : I believe people in our lives are important.

I'm a good mum : (I try to be great tho' )

I'm good partner for my other half : I let him see that life isn't always black and white! I introduce him to a womans perspective..difficult one! but I like challenges.

I'm a good therapist : I always strive to be as good as I can be with each of my clients.

I'm good at seeing life from anothers perspective : I consider this to be important. People with fixed views get on my nerves..grrr.

What I'm great at :

I'm a great procastinator : Sometimes I overwhelm myself with too much information then find myself unable to move forward! very annoying trait me thinks.

I'm a great optimist : I always believe things will work out and that one day all of my hopes and dreams will materialise.

I'm a great dreamer : I love to escape from this world and dream about warm countries, comfortable lifestyles and drinking red wine in the afternoon before my siesta..aaahhh. Maybe one day! I told you I am an optimist.

What I'm not so good at :

I'm not telling cos as I said above...I can keep secrets..sshhsmiley

Please check out some of my images on the next page.
